Souhaitant agrandir et moderniser son terminal d'aéroport, la nation Crie de Chisasibi a mandaté Groupe Genius pour concevoir la structure du bâtiment. En collaboration avec Quanta Architecture, une trame structurelle mettant en valeur le bois massif et reflétant la culture de la nation a été développée. Le projet, dont la construction est prévue pour débuter en 2025, comprend un concept de toiture innovant. En effet, une nouvelle technologie de panneaux de toiture préfabriqués sera utilisée. Cette innovation permettra non seulement de résoudre certaines problématiques courantes de l’industrie de la construction, mais surtout d’offrir une alternative écoresponsable crédible aux charpentes en acier avec pontages ou en béton, qui sont la norme de l’industrie. Le tout permettra un plafond en bois exposé s'harmonisant parfaitement avec le design de l'édifice.

Wishing to expand and modernize its airport terminal, the Cree Nation of Chisasibi commissioned Groupe Genius to design the building's structure. In collaboration with Quanta Architecture, a structural framework highlighting solid wood and reflecting the nation’s culture was developed. The project, scheduled to begin construction in 2025, includes an innovative roofing concept. A new technology of prefabricated roofing panels will be used. This innovation will not only address common issues in the construction industry but also offer a credible eco-friendly alternative to steel-framed and concrete decking, which are industry standards. This will allow for an exposed wooden ceiling that perfectly complements the building’s design.
